Smart lights are an excellent addition to any house, but it can be tough to take advantage of their features just like the bonus

- Lighting Rooms With Smart Motion Sensors
Light bulbs do not consume a lot of electricity, but turning them off when not in use is an excellent method to reduce your overall energy consumption.
Smart motion sensors make it easy to save electricity by allowing you to set your lights to turn on when you enter a room and switch off after a particular amount of time with no motion detected.
This automation can be created with a compatible smart light and motion sensor.
- Improving Home Alarms With Smart Light Triggers
You are not alone if you have ever been concerned about sleeping through your fire or burglar alarms. Configuring your smart lights to switch on when an alarm sounds reduces the likelihood that you may sleep through something dangerous.
Many smart devices can detect when an alarm goes off; for example, you may have smart alarms or smart cameras that can recognize the noise. I chose to use my Roku cameras to construct the automation because they can detect alarm noises.
Setting your lights to turn on when an alarm goes off in the Roku Home app is as simple as creating a new rule, selecting the trigger as when your camera detects an alarm, and adding an action for each of your lights.
Because your cameras are not waiting to be triggered by a specific alarm, they will activate whenever any home alarm goes off. If your home alarms do not allow smart integrations, this strategy is a cost-effective option to boost your home security, you can check some design tips for your house ethicsingraphicdesign.org before installing alarms.
- Syncing Lighting With TV and Music
Light shows are grand and complicated, yet they may appear impossible to enjoy from the comfort of your own home. Fortunately, some smart lights let you enjoy fantastic light shows while watching or listening to anything through syncing.
If you want to connect your lights to your TV or music, you’ll need smart lights that support syncing. Phillips Hue smart lights have excellent syncing support, although other smart lights also support this feature.
To sync Phillips Hue lights, first launch the Hue Sync app and navigate to the Entertainment Areas page. After there, you can choose what you want to sync (for example, your TV or Spotify account) and set it up using the app’s instructions.
- Pairing Notifications With Smart Lighting Alerts
If you’re concerned about missing anything exciting, such as your favorite Twitch stream or a text from your lover, you might be pleased to find that smart lights can alert you when vital messages arrive.
The setup process varies depending on the smart lights you’re using and the notifications you’d like to sync with. IFTTT widgets are available for a wide range of purposes, and I discovered that the Hue SMS notification widget worked perfectly for my needs.
Unfortunately, IFTTT widgets are not compatible with all smart devices. For example, I was unable to find any relevant widgets for my Roku devices. If you own a supported brand, IFTTT widgets go above and beyond the basic automations available through a manufacturer app.
- Complementing the Weather With Light Syncing
When you’re inside, it’s simple to overlook the vibrant sunshine or the dramatic gray light of a storm, but there’s something lovely about romanticizing the weather. Your lighting can be synced with the weather to ensure that the atmosphere is always appropriate.
You have several options based on how your smart home is configured. The appropriately named Thunderstorm for Hue devices and an IFTTT widget with a weather component are available for Phillips Hue devices.
Additionally, your smart lights might be able to be programmed to react to other weather-related cues, such as temperature readings (which would allow you to warm and dim the lights on unusually cool days) or precipitation that your smart outdoor camera picks up.
